GenIE is a new group at IPLA-CSIC, an institute of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) in Oviedo, Spain. We are a good fit for people curious about how genes move through microbial communities and who enjoy discussing science.
Projects can be experimental, computational, or theoretical, and usually combine more than one approach. You can join us as a student or through a competitive fellowship.
Students (Undergraduate & Master's)
We take students for Bachelor's and Master's theses (TFG and TFM), internships, including Erasmus+ traineeships, and research stays. You don't need a project idea or experience in everything we do. Tell me what you'd like to learn and we'll find a project that fits.
PhD candidates
If you're thinking about a PhD, we can design a project together and apply for a PhD fellowship, such as the Spanish FPU programme or other calls that fit your profile. Write to me a few months before the call, so there's time to do it well.
Postdoctoral researchers
GenIE can host postdocs applying for fellowships such as the Spanish Juan de la Cierva programme, the European Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships, and the Margarita Salas fellowships funded by the regional government of Asturias. I'm most interested in researchers who bring their own questions and want to develop them in a direction that connects with GenIE. I'll work with you on the proposal.
